12 Russian universities have made it into the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (ARWU), with the Lomonosov Moscow State University leading the way, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Wednesday.
"The results of one of the most authoritative world ratings - the Shanghai Subject Ranking of Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (ARWU) - were published on Wednesday, June 28. For the first time this rating included 12 Russian universities, 8 of which are participants of the 5-100 project aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Russian universities," the report said.
Among the Russian universities listed in the ARWU rating were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Novosibirsk State Universities, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Higher School of Economics, MIPT, MEPhI, MISA, St. Petreburg Polytechnic University, Ufa State Aviation Technical University and Belgorod State National Research University.
It was earlier reported that the Moscow State University was named one of the world's top 30 educational institutions according to the Times Higher Education rankings.
