Exhibition of the Russian marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow was among the ten most visited exhibitions in the world, The Art Newspaper Russia reported.
“It seems that for the first time an exhibition devoted to a Russian artist joins the list of ten most visited exhibitions in the world,” the newspaper notes.
Retrospective of Aivazovsky took the eighth place.
The top three positions of the international exhibition rating are traditionally held by free exhibitions in Rio de Janeiro, followed by the exhibition projects of New York, Tokyo and São Paulo.
Louvre of Paris tops the list of world’s most visited museums. For the ninth year in a row, the State Hermitage of Russia’s St. Petersburg takes the ninth position of the rating. Museums of the Moscow Kremlin and the Tretyakov Gallery appeared at the 21st and the 23rd positions, respectively.
