Hotels.com has released a Hotel Price Index that analysed which foreign guests spent the most on hotels in Russia during the first half of 2016.
Americans took first place, spending on average 6,738 roubles ($105.42) per night, which is 31% more than during the same period last year. German tourists were second, paying 6,488 roubles ($101.50) per night in the first half of 2016, a 56% increase in comparison to the first half of 2015.
Finnish travellers were third, paying 6,369 roubles ($99.64) per night in Russia, an 8% increase from last year.
Luxury accommodations showed the most growth in the hotel sector, with the average price paid for a room in a five-star hotel having grown significantly in comparison to the first half of 2015. For example, tourists from Finland paid 14,067 roubles ($220.08) per night for such rooms, which is 88% more than in 2015.
Travellers from the UK paid 30% more for luxury accommodations, spending 13,218 roubles ($206.79) per night, while Americans paid 17% more for an average of 11,062 roubles ($181.51).
