Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich has announced that the first driverless buses will be launched in time for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“We’re thinking about new modes of transportation which will become part of our lives in the near future. I believe that autonomous vehicles, such as driverless buses, will be the first phase of this transformation,” Dvorkovich said during the Moscow Urban Forum.
“American, French, German companies were mentioned. There are Russian businesses in the same industry. We expect 2018 to bring in first routes with driverless buses, and this includes servicing the 2018 World Cup,” he added.
