President Vladimir Putin explained what defines the innate character of the Russian people, according to TASS.
The head of state believes that “courage and acts of heroism” have always been defining aspects of the Russian people.
“Heroic deeds are not done for the sake of medals or other decorations,” Putin said during a reception commemorating the Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland. “People risk their lives to save others.”
The president added that the men and women honored on this day have always been and will always remain “exceptionally valued” in Russia.
“Russia is proud of its heroes, of all eras and all generations,” emphasised Putin.
Earlier, the Russian president approved the creation of a media holding that will promote voluntary social initiatives.
