Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposed the idea of opening a branch of the State Hermitage Museum during the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum in Abu Dhabi, TASS reported.

Lavrov noted that Abu Dhabi would soon be home to a branch of the Louvre Museum as well as the Guggenheim Museum. “I believe it is time for the Hermitage to open a branch in Abu Dhabi as well,” Lavrov said, claiming, “this will only improve our relations.”

It was reported last year that Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky had discussed opening a branch of the State Hermitage in Kuwait with representatives of the oil-rich country.
