Mikhail Bulgakov’s influential Russian novel “The Master and Margarita” will be developed into a feature film, Deadline reported.
Svetlana Migunova-Dali and Grace Loh will produce the film.
No actors have been attached to the project yet. Woodstock Music Festival founder Michael Lang will be one of the executive producers.
Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel, which was published in the 1960s, has been made into films several different times. Andrzej Wajda directed the first film adaptation in 1971 and Aleksandar Petrovic released his own film based on the novel the following year. In 1989, director Maciej Wojtyszko produced a four-film miniseries.
Yuri Kara made a theatrical version of the novel in 1994 and director Vladimir Bortko made a 10-part television miniseries based on the book in 2005.
