Sofia Oganyants, a Russian girl from the Moscow suburb of Khimki, is this year’s winner of the IKEA competition “Kids Draw for Kids” in which children create designs for a stuffed animal that will be sold in the Swedish retailer’s outlets.
In 2016, 2,730 works were submitted for the contest by participants no older than 12. Along with Oganyants, children from the US, South Korea, Australia, Japan, Poland, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and Austria made it into the top ten.
Oganyants’ picture depicts a rainbow toucan, an exotic bird from South America. The stuffed animals modelled after the winning sketch will be available for purchase this autumn.
