The Kremlin has commented on German media reports that former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger may serve as a contact between Moscow and Washington in Donald Trump’s administration, writes TASS.

According to the Press Secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin considers Kissinger a savvy politician with profound knowledge of US-Russian relations.

“Clearly, Kissinger remains one of the wisest politicians and experts, who has a deep understanding of Russian affairs and US-Russian relations,” said Peskov.

According to him, “if this knowledge and decades-long experience will be needed in some way, we would only welcome it.”

“But, of course, the relevance and applicability of his experience is not our concern, as it is up to our American colleagues to decide, and we cannot interfere in this,” Peskov concluded.

Earlier, the German tabloid Bild reported about the potential involvement of Kissinger as an intermediary between Russia and the United States.
