The Chinese company LeEco might start selling bottled water from Lake Baikal to China, said Victor Xu, President of the Russian and Eastern European LeEco division, to reporters on the sidelines of the Retail Business Russia summit. The company has already registered its own trademark.

“The idea is to transport medium and premium class water across the border. It will come from Lake Baikal,” he stated.

The company, according to Xu, plans to introduce its own brand of bottled water later this month.

Earlier, Kommersant reported that the Far East Development Fund and LeEco’s division in Russia and Eastern Europe are planning on creating a joint trade platform, LeLive, to promote Russian food in China.

Xu added that the bottled water project is part of the partnership agreement.

LeEco (Leshi Internet Information & Technology Beijing) was founded by Yueting Jia, a Chinese entrepreneur, in 2004. It develops ecosystem technology along with smartphones and smart TVs, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The company has also started work on the driverless electric vehicle market.
