The company "Masha and the Bear" will sign an agreement on the promotion of the eponymous cartoon with the Chinese Shanghai Media Group (SMG), Vedomosti reported Tuesday.
"Masha and the Bear", SMG and the developer of software for distribution of content SPB TV will create a joint venture that will distribute the cartoon in China. According to Chinese law, SMG will control the organisation.
Together, the companies will deal with licensing, distribution of content and production of goods under the brand "Masha and the Bear".
In China, more than 20% of children know "Masha and the Bear", toys and goods under this brand have been sold for a long time, but officially the company has not received any revenues in the country yet, said co-producer of the animated series Dmitry Liveyko.
It was earlier reported that the cartoon was watched more than 2.61 billion times on YouTube within four years, becoming the fifth video in the website’s history to surpass two billion views.
