Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport and Finnish airline Finnair hosted a teleconference between Santa Claus and Ded Moroz, the Slavic counterpart to Santa whose name translates as “Father Frost” on Nov. 18.
The teleconference connected Sheremetyevo International Airport and Veliky Ustyug, the residence of Ded Moroz. The beloved characters answered questions from both journalists and travellers, shared their holiday plans and wished everyone the best in the upcoming year.
Santa Claus departed Russia the same day and Sheremetyevo International Airport decided to give him a proper sendoff. Asides from Moscow, Santa also visited Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk. Santa’s next destination was Finland, followed by China.
Santa’s visit to Moscow coincided with Ded Moroz’s birthday, which is celebrated on Nov. 18. This day marks the beginning of Ded Moroz’s journey and he is expected to visit around 40 cities in Russia and abroad.
