The hotel search service experts at RoomGuru.ru have learned that Moscow has become the most popular city in Russia to celebrate the New Year. This was reported in a press release that Lenta.ru received on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
St. Petersburg came in second place in the rating that consists of ten positions, with Kazan rounding out the top three. The rating also included, in descending order, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Samara.
The experts analysed data on hotel searches and bookings for the time period between Dec. 31, 2016 and Jan. 1, 2017.
The cheapest hotel accommodations for the New Year can be found in Samara (3,200 roubles ($50) per person per night), while Sochi is the most expensive (about 6,500 roubles ($100)).
Prague was the leader of the rating for foreign cities. Tallinn came in second place while Minsk appeared in the third spot. The rating list, in descending order, also included Rome, Berlin, Riga, Vilnius, Vienna, Paris and Helsinki.
On this list, Vilnius hotels turned out to be the most inexpensive for the New Year. During their stay there, tourists will spend, on average, about 3,000 roubles ($45) a day. Hotels in Paris, on the contrary, will be the most expensive ones (more than 8,000 roubles ($123)).
In October, it was reported that Krasnaya Polyana was the most popular ski resort to visit in Russia during the winter holidays.
