The Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy announced the creation of a new space research department, according to TASS.

“The Space Research Department will be used for fundamental scientific purposes. This means basic research of 'black holes' and human behavior in zero gravity will take place,” said Sadovnichy on the University’s Open Doors Day. The department’s faculty will consist of biologists, mathematicians, astronomers and computer scientists. Sadovnichy named information technology and space exploration as the University’s priority areas of development.

According to the Moskva news agency, the first set of Master’s degree programs will be issued for the 2017-2018 academic year.

One to two groups are expected to be enrolled.
