Actor Keanu Reeves spoke with the Russian Izvestia newspaper about the filming of the romantic thriller "Siberia" in which he plays the main role. The interview was published on Thursday, May 18.
According to Reeves, north-east Russia was chosen for the production. Siberia is one of the most mysterious places on the planet, "which adventurers from all over the world dream to visit."
Reeves noted, that this movie was not filmed in Russia, but rather in Canada. "It's not that we didn't want to go to Russia. It's just technically convenient and cheaper," the actor explained.
He assured, that producers refused to stereotype the Russian mafia. In "Siberia," "the nationality of criminal individuals will not play any role," he stressed.
"Siberia," a romantic thriller directed by Matthew Ross, tells a story of an American diamond dealer (Reeves), who came to Russia to sell blue diamonds of questionable quality and origin.
