Seventeen Russian restaurants made it onto La Liste, a rating of the world’s top one thousand restaurants that has recently been released on its official webpage.
The list includes the Moscow restaurants White Rabbit, Dr. Zhivago, Savoy, Fish Market, Twins, Russian Hunting, Savva, Voronezh and MØS. Among those from Saint Petersburg are Europa, Russkaya Ryumochnaya №1, Letniy Dvorets, Russkiy Ampir, Sevilla and La Maree.
Two restaurants outside of Moscow, La Colline and Tsarskaya Okhota, also ranked highly.
Chef and owner Guy Savoy’s eponymous restaurant topped this year’s chart. In the past it was awarded three Michelin stars.
The ranking is compiled by a number of experts from France and other countries. A number of criteria is taken into account, including media and guidebook reviews, as well as feedback left by travellers online.
Restaurants scored from zero to 100 based on these criteria. The first La Liste was published in 2014.
In October, TripAdvisor, a website providing travellers’ reviews, drew its own list of haute cuisine eateries in Russia. Percorso, an Italian restaurant, was named the best.
