Renault has started exporting Russian-produced car bodies for their Logan model to Algeria. The first shipment of the car bodies, which were produced in Tolyatti, was shipped to a plant in Algeria, the company reported.

The car bodies for the Algerian plant are being produced at AVTOVAZ, which plans to ship 1,000 car bodies by the end of the year.

“The Algerian export project will be one of the largest ones,” said Andrei Pankov, general director of Renault Russia, according to the company’s press release.

There are currently more than 160 types of auto parts being exported from Russia to other countries. Major export markets for Russian auto parts include Latin America, Romania and Turkey. In 2016, the trade volume of Russian-made auto parts within the Renault group will add up to €27.2 million. This is 70% more than during the same period in 2015.

The Algerian plant is the second joint enterprise for Renault and the Algerian government.
