The village of Kinerma in Russia’s Northeast has been chosen as Russia’s most beautiful village. The winner was picked by Russia’s Most Beautiful Villages Association, who will be holding an award ceremony on June 10. The celebration will include signing a charter and installing a new road sign showing the way to Russia’s most beautiful small settlement.
The old Karelian village was able to fulfill the association’s strict criteria, and will now benefit from the surge in tourism the Most Beautiful Village title brings.
The Most Beautiful Villages international brand was first created in France in 1982 and the Russian Association was founded in 2014. The village of Vyatskoe in the Yaroslavl region was the first winner in 2015.
