In a statement made at the Eastern Economic Forum 2016, Sergey Donskoy, Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, said that Russia is now among the leading nations in terms of gold ore mining.
“Over the last five years, the country has increased simple and expanded reproduction of titanium, molybdenum, uranium, tungsten, copper, antimony, nickel, cement materials and gold ore. The increase in gold ore reserves is of particular importance, as Russia is now one of the leading nations in its extraction volume,” the official said.
The minister added that Russia’s Far East is the leading region regarding the volume and variety of raw materials.
“Over the last four years, including the first six months of this year, over 550 subsoil plots rich in raw materials were auctioned off,” he noted.
During the second half of 2016 and in 2017 a number of subsoil plots with placer and vein gold, titanium, apatites and alunites, will be auctioned off as well, the minister added.
