Russia and US Agreed to Prepare Astronauts for Flights to Other Planets

Russia and NASA have signed an agreement on a terrestrial isolation programme which will be used to train astronaut crews for future missions to other planets, according to RIA Novosti.

“A five-year programme of isolation experiments has been prepared. An agreement has already been signed with NASA,” said the Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) of the Russian Academy of Science Oleg Orlov.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin stated that Russia is currently lagging behind the US in the space industry by a factor of nine.
