Project 636 submarines equipped with Caliber missiles are in great demand in the world, the presidential aide of Russia on military-technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin told reporters, Rambler News Service reported.

"Indonesia is going to join soon, the Philippines, Thailand, and a number of other countries [are interested] – I will not name them all. This is the most demanded project," Kozhin said at the Naval Exhibition in St. Petersburg.

He added that Vietnam has received all purchased submarines of Project 636.

The Project 636 submarine is an upgraded version of Project 877, also known as Varshavianka. The first vessels of this generation were constructed in 1979.

As of today, these submarines are armed with cruise missiles of the "Caliber" type.
