Russian Opera Singer Wins Grammy

Russian opera singer Nikolay Didenko won a Grammy Award thanks to his performance with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, according to the official website of the Recording Academy.

“Penderecki Conducts Penderecki, Volume 1,” an album recorded by the aforementioned orchestra and choir with Krzystof Penderecki as conductor and Didenko singing, received the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance.

Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album category for her album “Verismo” but lost to both Ian Bostridge and Dorothea Röschmann, who tied for the award.
