St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo International Airport received the “Air Gateway of Russia” industry award for being the country’s best airport, according to Pulkovo’s official Facebook page.
The winner was chosen based on many months of travellers’ polls. Pulkovo was recognised as the best among the largest airports in Russia, specifically those that handle over ten million travellers per year.
At the end of 2016, Pulkovo was already among the top three Russian airports, according to Skyscanner. In spring 2016, Airport Service Quality analysts recognised it as one of the best in Europe.
Pulkovo is considered to be one of the most modern airports in Russia. Its annual passenger traffic exceeds 13 million people. Since February 2015, passengers have been using the new central terminal designed by Grimshaw Architects, who are best known for their railway station projects in Amsterdam and London.
