Russia's Netrebko, Serebrennikov Nominated for International Opera Awards

Director Kirill Serebrennikov, soprano Anna Netrebko and the MusicAeterna choir from the Perm Tchaikovsky Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre were nominated for 2017 International Opera Awards.

Serebrennikov’s rivals in the Best Director category are Robert Carsen, Tatyana Gürbaca, Nigel Lowery, Christof Loy and Damiano Michieletto.

Besides Netrebko, the nominees for Best Female Singer include Maria Bengtsson, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Christiane Karg, Anita Rachvelishvili, and Daniela Sindram.

In the Best Chorus category, MusicAeterna will compete against the Arnold Schoenberg Chor, as well as against choirs from Chicago, Stuttgart, Sydney and Leeds.

The 2017 International Opera Awards winners will be announced on May 7 in London.
