Russian chef Mikhail Denisov was recognised as one of the world’s best culinary specialists producing onboard meals, according to the results of Sky Delight Awards, Lenta.ru reported.
The award ceremony took place in Moscow on Wednesday, April 26 within a framework of SkyService 2017 forum dedicated to civil aviation services. Denisov, who works in the “Kuban Catering” company took the third place which he shared with his colleague Danai Kaevpradub (Thai Airways, Thailand). Masahiro Udo from Japanese Tokyo Food Catering won the first prize, followed by Khuon Nguyen Kin - a chef at Noibai Catering Services Company, Vietnam.
Ten catering chefs producing onboard meals for various international airlines participated in the competition. Each contestant with the help of their apprentices, had to prepare a cold snack or salad and a hot dish for both business and economy classes (four dishes in total). Each team was given 90 minutes to complete the task and provide simultaneous presentation to the jury within a two minute timeframe.
The winners were selected by the resepected jury headed by Viktor Belyaev - the President of National Association of Culinary Specialists of Russia. Meals were judged according to the taste, rational use of products, the complexity of the dish, overall appearance and possibility of its use onboard the aircraft.
The SkyService competition organised by the Russian catering company “Aeromar” was held for the first time.
