Sochi was acknowledged to have the best environmental situation in Russia, according to the press release by Domofond.ru, a real estate web portal.
Cities in Krasnodar region, North-Caucasian and Volga Federal Districts were at the top of the rating.
“Contrary to the situation in Sochi, in Armavir only the local community is concerned about environment preservation. However, the local government supports the residents by encouraging the automobile and metal processing industry to install waste treatment facilities”, said Erik Segerborg, CEO at Domofond.ru.
The cities of Armavir and Nalchik were among the top three cleanest cities. Cheboksary, Sebastopol, Korolyov, Stavropol, Grozny, Saransk, and Yoshkar-Ola were among the top ten.
Moscow came fourteenth, surpassing St. Petersburg by nine points.
Among the ten rating outsiders were the cities of Bratsk, Novokuznetsk, Volgograd, Yakutsk, and Makhachkala.
