Around 4,000 tourists will have traveled from Moscow to Vladivostok on the historic Trans-Siberian Railway, or TSR, by the end of the year, according to a statement made by Sergey Ilyaguev, general director of RZD Tour, during the Fifth International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg.

“This year we expect to have 3,500 to 4,000 tourists ride the TSR,” Ilyaguev said, adding that most travellers came from Europe, Asia, the US and Australia. Ilyaguev also noted that RZD Tour was working on new projects that may be in high demand with luxury-class tourists who prefer to travel by train.

Moreover, the company is considering other luxury routes similar to the TSR that could cater to foreigners interested in other regions of Russia.
