Sheriffs working in the state of Arizona have purchased a large batch of Russian OSA (Wasp) non-lethal pistols, according to a statement issued by the weapons manufacturing company Techmash.
The press release states that “Sheriffs in Arizona have placed a bulk order for the multi-purpose non-lethal OSA pistol, developed by the Techmash Research Institute of Applied Chemistry,” RNS reports.
The first shipment of over 60 pistols and 10,000 rounds of ammunition is currently undergoing field testing. “According to the results of preliminary tests, the OSA was highly praised by US policemen. We are currently in talks with sheriffs from other states who are considering ordering the same hardware,” said Techmash General Director Sergey Rusakov.
OSA is a barrel-less Russian non-lethal pistol designed for active self-defense, sending signals and lighting flares.
