Yuko Hasegawa, chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, has been named the curator for the Seventh Moscow Biennale, TASS reported, citing Mikhail Shvydkoi, special representative of the Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation.
Hasegawa previously participated in the organisation of biennales in Istanbul, Sharjah and Sao Paulo, and she was the commissioner of the Japanese pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003. “Soaring Forests” is the selected theme for the upcoming Moscow Biennale.
The Seventh Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art will take place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 28, 2017, at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall. According to Hasegawa, 50 artists from various countries will take part in the event.
