The project of creating a scale model of Russia, that is on display at Grand Maket Russia museum in St. Petersburg, has been underway for a long time. After all, recreating Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok is no small feat. The resulting scale model of Russia is the largest of its kind in the world, covering over 800 square metres.
The area is scattered with cities and fields, which are in turn filled with tiny people engaged in various tasks.
The project’s creators admitted they were not focused on mirroring the country’s geography. Rather, they focused on Russia’s image and tried to encapsulate the country’s spirit in the model. For example, the miniature has a railroad traversing the far north that does not yet exist in the real world.
