World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) conducted large-scale photo shoot of snow leopard in Russia. Using automatic cameras (aka “photo traps”) specialists managed to confirm the habitation of 47 snow leopards in Altai, Buryatia and Tuva regions. Less than 70 of these rare cats are still remaining in the country, while poaching still poses a main threat to their population. Poachers use wire loops while hunting deers and unwittingly catch snow leopards in their traps. In addition, the population of leopards in Buryatia, for example, is also threatened by human activity. Lenta.ru shows these amazing animals in their natural habitat.
