Homeless Santas Send Holiday Greetings

The St. Petersburg charity Nochlezhka made a video to raise awareness about the plight of people living on the streets that featured actual homeless people dressed up as Father Frost, the Russian equivalent of Santa Claus, telling people “Happy New Year!”

“You should have seen how the faces of our characters were changing when people asked them for a photo or a high five,” said Anton Mokhov, the creative director for Dekabrist, the agency that helped Nochlezhka make the video. “The homeless are used to the fact that people pretend they don't exist, as if they were ghosts. These people need our help because they want to return to a normal life, to become a part of society once again and to be needed.”
