Yulia Samoylova will represent Russia at Eurovision 2017, Channel One Russia reported. The singer will perform the song “The Flame Is Burning” in Kiev later this year.
Samoylova was born on Apr. 7, 1989, in the Komi Republic and has been confined to a wheelchair since she was a child. She has won awards at numerous music festivals and competitions both in Russia and abroad. The singer took part in the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Paralympics, where she performed the song “Together.”
The Eurovision semifinals will be held in Kiev on May 9 and 11, with the finals scheduled for May 13.
